La presente publicación Anuario Estadístico de Cuba 2006 de la Oficina Nacional de Estadísticas, constituye una importante información estadística que refleja los aspectos más significativos de la situación demográfica, económica y social de los cubanos.

El mismo consta de 23 capítulos, 302 tablas, 18 gráficos, 10 mapas y 376 páginas. Cada capítulo comienza con una breve introducción donde se explica el contenido, la fuente de información de los datos, así como la definición metodológica de los principales indicadores.

Se presentan tablas con series de varios años y gráficos relativos a Territorio y Medio Ambiente, Organización Institucional, Proceso Electoral en Cuba, Población, Cuentas Nacionales, Finanzas, Empleo y Salarios, Sector Externo, Energía, Industria, Agropecuario, Construcción e Inversiones, Transporte, Turismo, Comercio Interior y los Servicios Comerciales, Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones, Salud Pública y Asistencia Social, Educación, Ciencia y Tecnología, Cultura y Arte, Deporte y Cultura Física.

La fuente fundamental de los datos que se exponen procede del Sistema Estadístico Nacional, a través del cual la Oficina Nacional de Estadísticas, con sus 15 delegaciones territoriales y sus 168 oficinas municipales en todo el país, capta información de los centros informantes directamente. No obstante quiere dejar constancia de su reconocimiento a los Organismos de la Administración Central del Estado y otras Instituciones, que han prestado su colaboración suministrando otras valiosas informaciones.

Este Anuario constituye un instrumento de educación económica para todo nuestro pueblo, a la vez que permite divulgar, de manera oficial, los resultados más importantes del país.

The present publication, Anuario Estadístico de Cuba 2006 (Statistical Yearbook of Cuba 2006) from the National Office of Statistics, it constitutes important statistical information that shows the most significant aspects of Cubans' demographic, economic and social situation.

It consists of 23 chapters, 302 charts, 18 graphs, 10 maps and 376 pages. Each chapter begins by a brief introduction where the content as well as the methodological definition of the main indicators are explained.

Charts are presented with series of several years and graphs relative to Territory and Environment; Institutional Organisation, The Electoral Process in Cuba, Population, National Accounts; Finances; Work Force and Salaries, Foreign Sector, Energy, Industry, Agriculture, Construction and Investments, Transportation, Tourism, Domestic Trade, and Community Services; Technologies of Information and Communications, Public Health and Social Assistance, Education, Science and Technology, Culture and Art; Sports and Physical Culture.

The fundamental source of the data exposed, comes from the National Statistical System, through which the National Office of Statistics along with its 15 territorial delegations and 168 municipal offices in the whole country, gets information directly from information centers. Nevertheless, we also want to provide evidence of our recognition to the Organisms of the Central Administration of the State and other Institutions that have given much more valuable information.

This Yearbook constitutes a tool of economic education for all our people, at the same time allowing to disclose, in an official way, the most important results in the country.
