Los datos brindados en el Anuario Estadístico de Cuba tienen como fuente, el Sistema Estadístico Nacional (SEN), que comprende entre otros, el Sistema de Información Estadístico Nacional (SIE-N), este incluye el Sistema de Censos y Encuestas y el Sistema de Información Estadística Complementaria (SIE-C), de los Organismos de la Administración Central del Estado, los mismos tienen como base la contabilidad y registros primarios de las empresas, de las unidades presupuestadas (unidades de servicio de las administraciones públicas), unidades básicas, cooperativas, de los Sectores Estatal y no Estatal y la población.
